Opostega nubifera is known to science from a single specimen. One individual, preserved, catalogued, and then largely forgotten. The entire known record of this moth's existence fits inside a glass case in a museum drawer, and yet the species persists, alive somewhere in the world, doing its work entirely unseen.
The larvae of this moth never feed in the open. They press into the tissue of a leaf and consume it from the interior, tracing slow, precise paths through living material while the leaf's surface appears undisturbed. You work the same way.
